Puppy Ciao
Paul Iams, who wormed his way into the pet
food aisle with a line of premium pet products from the company that still
bears his name, has died at the age of 89. Technically Iams Food Company is now
only a division of Procter & Gamble, but why kibble? Iams got a rawhide
deal early in his career, trying to earn a living as a traveling dog food
salesman, a rover, if you will, during the Depression, before learning more
about pet nutrition, and founded his own company in 1948. Iams ran the company
until he sold out to his partner in 1982, fetching a pretty penny.
