A career character actor, Kelly’s career hit the big time as the man selected to impersonate a lottery winner who had inconveniently died before collecting in Waking Ned Devine, a role that included a naked motorcycle ride to maintain the ruse. After seeing he could play sexy, casting directors couldn’t wait to get him in bed again, leading to his only other major role as Grandpa Joe in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
